It is a good practice to preserve your data as a local backup on your local machine. This can be done from the cPanel itself.
You can follow the below steps to take the full back of your domain.
♦ Login to cPanel (https://example.com/cpanel)
♦ Navigate to Files >> Backups
There you can see “Download or Generate a Full Website backup” option, click on it and it will ask for an email address into which the backup completion mail should be sent.
